Character Introduction: Geordie Vollner

Geordie Vollner, born in 1949 to Elizabeth Nicholas and Lapetus Vollner as their half angel and half vampire only daughter.  She bears the cunning resemblance of a traditionally created angel as well as a turned vampire, even though she was naturally born mortal.  Ever so slightly wavy long raven black hair cascades her back at all times, she rarely puts it up as it does help shield from the irritation of the sun.  Even though she carries many of the strengths of her ancestry, she still carries a sensitivity to sunlight; her skin blisters and reddens like an intense sunburn for a mere human.  Although she will not set ablaze like most turned vampires, she still tries to be weary of how much skin gets exposed to sunlight at a given time.

Because of this, she generally wears things that cover as much of her skin as possible.  Generally, she will adorn a hoodie with tights or leggings underneath a skirt as she prefers them over pants for easy movement when running from the angels.  She is always wearing the same worn-down sneakers she’s had for many years until she needs to switch things up.  Thankfully, one of the powers she inherited from her father was the ability to compel mortals, therefore being on the run, she’s managed to compel her way into any necessary resources for survival without having to pay for it with human currency.

While her parents were alive, they taught her all about the vampire culture and how covens operated as her father, Lapetus, was a coven leader known as an Elder.  Her mother never seemed willing to share much information about the group of angels that resided in the Immortal Realm.  Whenever Geordie asked questions about them, her mother would brush the questions off either with a vague answer or would generally look ashamed to be a part of the angels.

Elizabeth Nicholas was what was known as a Watcher.  The Watchers were a group of angels assigned by Ezra Daron to keep an eye out on the vampires and lygoids to ensure balance was maintained in the Mortal Realm.  If a vampire seemed like they were getting out of control or gaining too much power, this was reported by the watchers to Ezra and the situation was dispatched in whatever means necessary.  That was how Elizabeth and Nicholas met.

Geordie’s parents made it clear to her that since they’d known each other, her mother’s perspective on the vampires had changed drastically, and she could not in good conscience return to the immortal realm knowing what she had learned about the vampires, about how they weren’t as evil as the angels made them out to be.  They made sure to teach her the importance of not judging others based on their heritage or background and to reserve judgment until she truly knew a person.  Since her parents’ deaths she has made sure to live by that philosophy.

Geordie understands that a person can’t control the world they inherit through their ancestry, but they can at least control how they interact with the world in lieu of that ancestry, so she chooses to be open minded about the various mixes of species she meets.  More than anything else, she wishes to better understand her own heritage and learn more about herself, but being the only one of her kind, with no prior written knowledge on the subject, and no one to guide her, she finds herself alone in a world that fears the unknown of what she is.
