New Blog Post Series: Behind the Characters

Good morning readers and welcome to another day with an update blog post!  This one is going to be relatively short today as I just wanted to give you a content update on what to expect throughout the final weeks of Fallen Ribbon’s launch campaign.  We have a lot of content coming up in anticipation of Launch Day on August 15th!

Spread out through the final weeks, I will be writing a series of posts that give a sort of, “behind the scenes” look at my character creation between Geordie, Matt, Frost and Sam.  You’ll get to read all about how I brought them to life in their own posts between publishing updates as each of them stemmed from a different idea and had different inspirations.  I figured it would be a nice thing to look forward to now that we’ve met the characters that tie this story together learned who they are.

As our main protagonist, Geordie will go first with her Behind the Character post.  We’ll find out what stage she came into the story, what songs inspired her conception, and how I envisioned her future in the later installments of the series.  Following the angelic vampire will be the peculiar human Matt Hallow.  I had some very specific ideas when I thought of him that were a mixture of different feelings and ideas I had at the time.  Afterwards, we will look at Frost and how this powerhouse of a creature came to be one of the most conflicted antagonists of the book.  Finally, to end this brief series of posts, I’ll jump into Sam who I really did intend on being mostly a boring vampire side character.

I’m being completely honest here; I did not intend for Sam to get as much attention as he did from my First Readers alone.  All of my characters, both main and side, have grabbed the attention of my First Readers in various ways, which I am really happy about especially when they’ve managed to evoke some real emotion from the readers.  That makes me happier than you can believe because that is exactly what I wanted, to evoke emotion.

Before we start with the main characters, I will start the post series talking about some of the characters that I had to effectively cut from the story.  These characters are still featured side characters in the story, we just don’t get to see the story in their eyes.   They still hold significance in the story and eventually make a great impact on our main team of characters.  I hope you all enjoy reading this series of posts and let me know what you think!
